A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mickey Hart -- former drummer for the Grateful Dead -- after the musician allegedly attacked someone at a recent concert ... TMZ has learned.

Multiple law enforcement agencies tell TMZ ... Hart -- real name Michael Hartman -- has been accused of assaulting a person at a Mickey Hart Band show on Sept. 8 at Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

Hart played with the Dead between 1967 and 1995 ... the year Jerry Garcia passed away.

The details surrounding the alleged attack are unclear ... but the alleged victim filed a police report following the incident and initiated assault charges.

We're told it's standard practice in Kentucky to issue a warrant as soon as an alleged victim decides he or she wants to press charges.

Mickey's camp tells us they're looking in to the situation

he should have been arrested when he rejoined in '76, spoiling the wonderful, free-flowing, some say 'jazzy' Dead of '74 and turning them into the rancid plodding (two drummers slowing each other down) Dead of '77 onwards ........

That's my story and I'm sticking to it .....

Assault is defined as a threat to inflict harm, battery is the physical act. To earn a warrant, there must be both the alleged victim and a witness, otherwise it's a he said/she said situation.

Mickey's generally a happy hippie, though a tad bit esoteric in nature. I really can't imagine him beating on someone unless the provocation warranted the response.

Either way, it's been said that all media publicity is good. Sounds like a hollywood script to these ears, perhaps ticket sales needed a boost.

As for Kentucky's asinine laws concerning alleged assaults. I have lived in the great Ky.my entire life and been through a false accusation of assault/harrassment by an employee of mine soon after starting a new position where I was viewed as the "outsider." I got a call from my workplace stating that a sheriff was looking for me with a warrant and that he was heading to my house. I have never once been in trouble (save for a dorm room incident involving some funny smells :)) Turns out this individual who I had many issues with had filed that I assaulted him at work and his buddy (another employee) who backed him upstated I shoved him. This is all it took to cause many weeks of nonsense and calling in a major favor from an old friend that was a lawyer. Not once did a prosecuter/ or police officer talk to me or anyone else. Just a couple of good old boys (who later ended up in prison over a hate crime) causing problems with an inept system. Kentucky as beautiful and laid back as it is has the most arcane judicial system in the nation. I wish Mickey only the best. Probably a bunch of nonsense, I have been to Terrapin good times and good people. They don't deserve the negative press and the county has been fighting them for a long time about the event. Something smells fishy.

Howdy Trailhead,

Wow, someone else from KY. I can't believe it.
If you want, we should trade Emails. And maybe
some funny smells.

As to this sad situation, I did not go to Terrapin
this year, although I have many times. It is very
rare that they have any cases of violence or rowdy
behavior. I can't imagine Mickey assaulting anybody
unless he himself was threatened.
So far - I have not heard any local news to verify
this story, only TMZ which has a sketchy reputation.
I'm going to ask around the grapevine to see if
anyone in attendance actually knows anything.
Stay tuned.

Hey Trailhead,

I grew up (well, not quite yet) in Frankfort
and know it well. Get in touch. Maybe we can
meet there at Poor Richard's or the coffee shop.

"Curtsinger, 57, said he had been ushered to the back of the bus by Hart's manager before Hart threw him down, cursed him, hit him, pushed him and finally "told me to get off my bus."

What a crock of shit. This guy deserves a good ass kicking for trying to make Mickey look bad. No way this actually happened.

If I got my a$$ kicked by any 69 year old, yet alone a hippie, I would keep it to myself.
